“You hereby have permission to hug, as much as you want to” I slip into his warm arms, enjoying the feeling of him way too much, but keeping it to myself for now.

LUKE Luke stiffened for a split second, surprised, not expecting the hug. Then, instinctively, his arms moved slowly until they rested lightly around her. Her body was soft against his, warm and familiar. His chin grazed the top of her head as she held on. For a second, he closed his eyes and let himself breathe her in. She always smelled like flowers. The memory of the kiss resurfaced and he exhaled. He hadn’t forgotten it, not for a day. He had noticed how Ava avoided him and he stayed back, not wanting to pressure her especially with the pitch around the corner.

The confident determination shining in his eyes, mirroring my dreams of acceptance and belonging, gave me hope for a brighter future. Taking a deep breath, I smiled even more as I hugged him. The scent of his cologne filled my senses, and I couldn't help but revel in the warmth of his embrace. The moment I hugged him, I felt his heart beating so fast, as if it were trying to escape from his chest.
