It was the six hundredth year since humans started to leave Earth to colonize other planets. Gradual was one of the planets they had colonized and during the most time they were there, they believed they were alone. But in the fourth year of human existence on Gradual, they were attacked by raven beasts, winged creatures born by the planet itself. Immune to all energy weapons of humans. The fight with the raven beasts cost humanity over a billion lives before they finally got victory. Such an expensive victory made the humans bitter, and they directed their wrath to one of the civilizations they had signed a peace treaty with, the AIs, the planet was shared by humans and Gradual but when the war came, the Graduals stayed out of it. Humans protested at all AI bases in Gradual but the AIs remained silent about the whole issue and over time their relationship began to show strains.

The life cycle of a butterfly lasts for an average of thirty days. In human time that was nothing. Within that thirty days the butterfly would go through the craziest of cycles, starting as an egg enclosed within a shell that is both impenetrable and fragile. Then that shell would break to let out a creature that was hideous and scary and weird. Soon the creature would enclose itself completely for the second time, never to be seen like that again. It was a period of transformation. In thirty days, a butterfly's life will be complete, coming out of the cocoon as a changed and majestic creature. When Alexa's parents died, her life seemed to take a huge leap downwards, coupled with the facts that she could not manifest her wolf like every normal werewolf. due to this fact, she is demoted to an omega in the pack and looked down upon. her father's throne is taken over by the beta who is cruel to her. she decides to run away to the human world where she lives until she finds her mate who happens to be the cruel lycan king everyone feared. she hates him to the bone and tried to get ignore the feelings and connection that bubbled in her. the novel is about her journey to discovering her powers and ability and stopping a war that can potentially destroy the mystical world for good.

Following the success of her two novels, Cela receives an offer for the TV adaptation of her stories but a third story has to be written soon to complete a three-story special. She is not in to the project until she rediscovers the paper bearing the address of the meeting place of her supposed first date with Nate. Now that her mother is no longer around to interfere, she becomes inspired to reunite with him after many years and hopefully write the third novel based on their new story. Unfortunately, he is now about to get married in two months. Disappointed with the turn of events, she decides not to meet him again. She visits their old meeting place and finds it a good place to write but unexpectedly meets him there. They agree not to talk to each other if they meet there again but fate leads them to meet again under different circumstances leaving them no choice but to speak to each other. Suddenly, Nate’s fiancée starts acting weird and suggests that he spend the weekend with Cela while she is away. Although it confuses him, he figures that it is her way of helping him get closure. The two spend one Sunday reminiscing the past expecting a closure in the end but the wonderful moment they share this time only makes it harder to achieve that closure so Cela has to put a stop to it saying, “Please don't think even for a second that there is still something left or something new to explore after everything that happened or did not happen. This is not a novel. This is reality. We don't get sequels or spin-offs in real life. We just continue. We move forward and that's how we get to the ending."
