Kai hissed. He shoved me back, his arm a bar of iron across my chest. We froze. At the far end of the corridor, where the shadows pooled thickest, a drone drifted into view. It wasn’t one of the friendly campus delivery bots. This was a Hunter model, sleek, black chrome, shaped like a teardrop, with a single, glowing red eye scanning the floor.
