Blazewing, on the other hand, carried the opposite—heat and fire. Raven took Blazewing, but she died of heat stroke in the heatwave apocalypse, while I survived thanks to Snowviper's cooling power. In her final moments, Raven was convinced I had stolen her husband. She whispered poison into Snowviper's ear, and he killed me.

They had returned alive even from that blast of fire. I started to run. My speed was now far beyond that of a normal human. With every leap, I covered several meters. But the problem was that the shadowy figures chasing me weren't far behind. They were clad in black tactical gear, carrying weapons that emitted blue laser beams. ​Deep in the forest, the snow and mud had created a hellish terrain. I tried to hide behind a thicket. I was struggling to breathe. Suddenly, the tattoo on my thigh began to burn with intense heat. I pulled back the fabric of my pants and saw that the tattoo was no longer still. It was slithering like a snake beneath my skin.

His gaze never wavered, holding on, sharp enough to cut diamond if he tried. They locked onto mine and everything else in the bar blurred into bleariness. The music faded from my ears just as all the people present there disappeared. Now there was only him and the weight of his stare burning through me. Heat rushed through every single corner of me until I was oversaturated. My body burned as the intensity of his emerald eyes aroused me. There was something about him that just felt dangerous in a predatory way. His eyes slowly checked me out, causing sensations to bombard me.

It’s on fire and the men who were manning it are either gone or dead on the ground, burned to death. One of the silvers turns to face us while another takes a second hatchling and begins flying away. The silver facing us growls and blows another round of fire at us. This time when I hit the ground, I begin crawling toward the harpoon launcher. Just as I reach it, the fire stops. I stand, ready to put a harpoon into the launcher when huge talons grab the launcher and fling it over the edge of the mountain. The silver looks at me, growling menacingly.

Every part of me hurt, and it felt like I was swaying on a boat at sea. Urgent shouts rang in my ears. "Sir, hang on! The hospital's just ahead!" Hearing that, I struggled to open my eyes. The paramedic was a young lady. Seeing my bloodied face made her panic, but all she could do was comfort me. "Sir, we'll reach the hospital after we pass the outdoor banquet that the Brewer family is hosting. Hang in there!"

For a heartbeat, Hunter simply stared at the dark screen of his phone, unable to think. Then he grabbed his jacket and practically ran out of the bar, with Cassey right behind him. “What happened?” she asked as they reached his car. “Is everything okay?” “Nothing is okay,” Hunter said, panting as he got into the driver’s seat. “The mansion caught fire.” “What?” Cassey gasped, but she didn’t waste a second before climbing into the passenger seat. “How did it happen, Hunter? Everything seemed fine when we left.” “I don’t know,” Hunter muttered through gritted teeth as he shoved the key into the ignition. “They said there was an explosion.”
