“I’ll see you there, Ari. Be ready.” He hangs up. No goodbye. No explanation. Just vibes and chaos. I stare at my phone like it betrayed me. “Okay… that was weird.” I walk back into the family room, and everybody is staring like I walked in naked. “That was Hunter,” I announce. “He’s having a Christmas gala the second weekend of December. He wants all of us to come.” Patrick nods. “I already got my invitation, but no date.” “Well,” I say, “sounds like he’s sending those out now.”

“I’m assuming the delegation is coming home soon?” “Should be. Walt is under investigation. Won’t be hearing from him for a while.” He shrugs. “Not that it bothers me any. Good riddance. But I do have a favor to ask you.” I look at him confused. “And that is?” Hunter grabs another set of shorts from a hidden storage bin behind the tree. “Mind if I come visit? Pretty sure I caught scent of my mate in your pack.”

“Spill.” Marcus ran a hand down his face, exhaling heavily. “There are werewolf hunters near the territory. Too close.” My jaw tightened. “How close?” “Close enough to be a problem. Nobody answers him. “Well?” He demands. “What is going on here?” Tina turns towards Hunter, “Did you willingly let Sarah go to her death when you knew I could stop the effects of wolfsbane in the first twenty four hours?”
