We were both famished so we paused our hunter discussion and proceed to the best part which is eating. I picked the roasted boar meat and it melts in the mouth. Although the meat is darker than normal meat, boar meat has this sweet and tangy flavor when smoked and grilled. Kale salad is made with kales, oils, and some nuts which are the perfect palette cleanser.

Some of those supplies are nearly impossible to get without the right connections; I don’t have them right now. I sighed in relief when I found my hunter kit was still intact. “Let’s see what I will need?” I pondered, searching through my supplies. “Blue flame candle and holy oil for purification. Blood… well, she has some in the fridge, and I only need two drops. And chameleon bones. And then I need an object I can wear to enchant.” I sighed, setting everything I needed aside.

I had only seen Mildred and Garren shift, so this was new. Hunter wasn’t nearly as big as Garren, but he was bigger than Mildred. His scales looked rougher, and he had spikes lining his back along his spine. His talons were longer than the others, and his wings looked like they were tipped with ice shards. “Hunter is the last of his kind,” Mildred said low enough for only me to hear. “He’s beautiful. He looks like he is covered in pieces of ice.” I said in awe. She let out a laugh.

It was true for me. “What if I already have?” he whispers into his bottle that I barely catch what he says. Pax shrugs as he gazes up at the sun. “We will worry about mates tomorrow. Let’s just get through tonight. Everyone has been taking the wolfsbane capsule, the tiny bit of silver it’s going to work.” Hunter nods, his sour mood fading. I guess I never realised how much it bothered him or how much he wanted a mate.

A heavy silence descended upon the room. “The hunters have a secret room. Inside, they have a vast array of weaponry, from metal beads that would disperse silver shrapnel when detonated to grenades containing silver nitrate and wolfsbane gas. Along the walls, they had some gruesome battle plans drawn up. Another thing, from the plans I reviewed, they’re not only after this pack.” He paused when an omega placed a plate of food in front of him with wine and water to drink. “Thank you,” he said, then picked up his fork and started eating.
