A deep voice spoke, and I froze. I turned my face to the side to see a man, staring out the window, his back to me. He was tall, blonde hair brushed back, and long sleeve shirt that hugged his body tightly. But what caught my attention was his physique— he looked oddly familiar, even though his voice was not. "Who are you?" I managed to ask. "How long have you been here? Why am I drugged?" I heard him laugh, and the sound send chills down my spine. "How many questions do you have for me, sweetheart?" Now he turned sideways. "If you must know, I am Alastor."

The bag my mother had packed was getting heavier and heavier with each step. The talking was helping keep my fear of the forest at bay, but now, in the silence, the hooting and howling were getting to me. I rushed up to join Kent. I mean if I was stuck in the Unclaimed Forest with anyone, I would pick the most powerful Alpha. As I ran up to him, I must have stepped into some slippery mud because instead of landing next to him, I slammed into his back. I heard a howl somewhere in the distance. It didn't sound like a regular wolf howl, so I knew it was "Ambro-...." I stopped my thought immediately. This was not Ambrose, it was another version of him. He was a pure beast now, so he would not recognize my voice or acknowledge me. Calling him now would let him know that his prey was dumb enough to let her presence known.

I spun around, my hand instinctively reaching for the dagger strapped to my waist. My eyes narrowed as I scanned the trees around me, looking for any sign of danger. I had heard rumors of blood drinkers in the forest, creatures that sucked the blood of their prey and left nothing but a dry husk behind. "Who is there?" As if on cue, a group of blood drinkers emerged from the bushes, their eyes gleaming in the sunlight. My heart raced as I realized there were too many for me to handle alone. I signaled to her pack members, and they rushed to my side.

Harlow growled and transformed into a large gray Lycan. Alastair grinned with a crooked smile. “Baby, I was already in hell.” He transformed into a black Lycan standing 6 ft 8”. His head nearly touched the hanging chandelier. Using shadow magic, I trapped Alastair’s feet to the ground. Black shadows gripped his ankles in place, enough to give Harlow an opening. At super speed, Harlow shredded Alastair’s body. Though his feet were bound, Alastair’s hands were still free. His hand swung faster and slammed Harlow’s body into the wall. We were too late to see it.
