Kaden was there before she hit the ground, pulling her into his arms. He looked at the retreating fog, and then at Elias. He asked the boy how he did that. Elias sat down on the concrete, his small frame shaking. He said the Archive had shown him the "Lullaby of the Moon." He told them that the Soul Eaters were vibrations of hunger and that the Silverbacks were the only ones who knew the counter note. But he told Laila that he couldn't do it alone for much longer. He said the "chorus" wasn't a metaphor.

“But, I suppose you got here through unconventional means... its possible.” She felt her hopes rising, again. “So how do I get out?”, she asked, following him up the mountain. “Not so fast...what’s your name?” He seemed friendlier now, his once harsh eyes now cool and calming. “Azeasthrath, and...you are?” They were now climbing stairs of a skyscraper, turning every ten steps. “ Hypnos, god of sleep.” He said and the scene changed again. They were standing on a platform, and everything else was just endless black. “Why do you even want to go back so badly?”, he asked looking down. Still black everywhere. “Zoi is there. He made his way into the world and is probably going to destroy it.”

“Will you sing me a song?” “Of course, Max.” Esper started rocking the boy back and forth as she began to sing Billy Joel’s Lullabye. “Goodnight, my angel, time to close your eyes and save these questions for another day.” Esper’s voice carried throughout the forest as she sang. The soft soprano tone brought a deep calm to all of the creatures within earshot. The woman’s singing was interrupted by Argos snorting as he sensed someone approaching the stone structure.
