We made our way to the podium, and I stood a little off to the side of Sebastian as he addressed the crowd around him. He stood there for a long moment as everyone settled down; as he stared around at all the individual people, they silenced. I could feel that they still feared him greatly. “I’ve called this conference to go over a few things,” Sebastian began. “For starters, Magnolia, and Jack, formally the Queen and Prince of the kingdom, have been exiled. If you are caught harvesting them in your packs, there will be consequences.”

I trailed off as footsteps and voices drew nearer, but thankfully, they didn’t enter the alley. “I’m telling you, Drend, something’s wrong in the palace. Why else would the king refuse to hear the public’s representative petitions? Canceling the first court hearing and now refusing to continue after the first guy? It has never happened.” They looked like humans, but I knew they had to be werewolves. But wait, the king is back? The Drend guy replied, “Nothing’s wrong. The king is just as immature and inconsiderate as ever. That’s what happens when a young boy ascends the throne. He’s back from his journey and doesn’t want to resume his duties.”

The man who I am guessing is a royal guard says and his voice pulls me out of my thoughts. I nod and I begin to follow him. He leads me to a Chariot and we both get inside. I noticed that as he and I walked up to the chariot, people were watching us, specifically, me. I even heard one of them say “It is a blessing for me to see lord Jaden so close to me in the flesh, for I never thought that would happen in my lifetime.” I love that people are saying that and feel so highly of me, but I also feel so disgusted by myself that I have failed them. I have let another rule over the Territory; even though I know that it is for six months, this is still a shame to me.
