I mumbled coldly as I thought about it. The four of them hugged each other happily as they looked at me and all I could do was a sigh, helplessly because of it.

I asked him frowning. “What I mean is you are perfect the way you are to me. If there is any change, then we wouldn’t be molded like this at all.” He replied and hugged me tightly gesturing at our hug. “So stop those stupid thoughts and just believe that I can never think of anyone other than you, even when some demon is sitting on my head.” He said and I just looked at him with tears forming in my eyes. “Shh... Let’s just enjoy.” He said, twirling me around, and I did enjoy with him.

I stammered, confused and frozen in place, as he opened his arms. “You can come hug me. I guarantee I'm not a ghost.” He smiled even more. I stood up, running, jumping over the hammock, heading into his arms, hugging him so tightly, afraid that it was just a dream or a hallucination. “But if you keep squeezing me like this, I might become one.”

That night, I received a short message while folding the laundry: *Thought about you today. Hope your evening is quiet. I smiled, pressing the phone to my chest. The warmth it sparked wasn’t from words alone, it was the knowledge that he had carried me in his thoughts as surely as I had carried him in mine. *It is now, I replied. Thanks for thinking of me. The reply came almost instantly: *Always.

Thinking seems to be tiring now, but despite of emptying my mind for the moment, my mind remained feeling drained still as if I am thinking too much when I am really not. After you sang a certain verse from a certain song, you let out a small laugh. You, then, stopped from rubbing my side as well. Instead, I felt your frigid lips touched my forehead as your arm that you are using earlier to rub my arm slid down to my waist to hug it. You pressed yourself closer on me as if you are putting all your weight on me in a careful manner.

From behind me, he slowly wrapped his hand around my waist before burying his face on my shoulder. "Your thoughts are too deep. You didn't even realize I was here. Are you okay?" there is a streak of anxiety in his voice. I just nodded in response and resumed my packing. He kept hugging me while watching what I was doing. Why the fvck am I letting him hug me ?!

I just stood there frozen, unsure how to react to her unexpected hug, for it all felt foreign, i could barely remember the last time she hugged me or if she ever had. My mind raced was a roller-coaster of thoughts - should I hug her back or pull away? I yawned for a bit as exhaustion washed over me, the long night taking its toll. All I wanted was to escape and find a bed.

I sighed, wrapping my arms around his neck and hugging him tightly. “I thought I was going to lose you.” I whispered, burying my face into the crook of his neck. He was frozen in my arms but slowly thawed. His arms finally wrapped me in his embrace. “I thought he was going to kill you. I could… I couldn’t let him take you from me. I won’t let anyone take you from me.” he whispered, burying his face into my shoulder as we held each other.

It is a symphony of shared emotions, an unspoken language that bridged the chasm between us and offered solace in the face of despair. He holds me for as long as I needed him to, not letting go until I had my fill. I felt a surge of warmth coursing through my veins, spreading like wild fire, from where our bodies touch, radiating through every inch of my being, igniting the ember of hope that was so close to be extinguished. I realize that this hug was not merely an act of comfort, but an unspoken affirmation of his unwavering support and affection.

That tiny smile felt like sunlight in the middle of a cold storm. I stepped forward and opened my arms. “Come here,” I whispered. He hesitated, like he was unsure. But eventually, he leaned forward and allowed me to hug him. I held him like he was still five years old. Like the world hadn’t yet taught him how to push me away. “May you live long, Liam,” I said softly against his ear. “May your heart always find peace. And may you never forget how much I love you.”
