I fell of a ditch and lost consciousness, only to find myself here when I regained consciousness. Please, I promise that I will not ever steal again.” They look at each other. The taller guy nods, and the shorter one lets go of my arms. “Okay, okay. Good.” Then he walks toward me and whispers into my ear while the other one watches us both carefully.

My name is Violet Carter, I am 23 years old. The first time I stole something, I was at a church. My parents often brought me there, together with my 9 siblings. I was the 4th eldest. During those times, I knew what was right and wrong. I had been 11 at the time. My young mind understood that stealing something that wasn’t yours was wrong and will ultimately land you a spot in hell. However, my young mind also understood that it was wrong for someone to ignore the plea of their siblings.
