It is so funny how within the twinkle of an eye, the world fucks us up so much that we have to put on layers and layers of skin that is not truly ours, just so that it becomes thick enough to withstand the hurt of this world. My mother's words have since refused to leave my head, despite how hard I work and how I never stop trying to have it all. Even when I hear these words echo over and over again in my head. I even take all of that pain and anguish out on Luke sometimes because if not him, then who?

She is like a goddess walking the earth. I have a fair skin, near to becoming pale, dry hair, super thin figure with no curves, chinky eyes, single eyelids, parched, peeling lips. There are thick, dark bags under my eyes, as I am always doing overtime. I am a perfectionist employee, so I am always stressed, and I do not take my work for granted. I grew acne for a long time. But because of my perseverance, I have been praised by my boss numerous times and foreign clients’ critique of my work are wonderful; I have been never criticized badly. I am really meticulous in everything I do.

It was so thin and transparent that the cold seemed to bite her flesh even more now. "She doesn't look like much, eh?" Huge feet walked in front of her bowed figure. She could barely shrink back, there was no strength in her at all. All she could do was stay hunched over and take deep breaths. The skin of her hand was so thin now that her bones jutted out, threatening to burst through, her knuckles were pronounced and the outline of every bone could be seen through her skin.

She felt unsettled. “ Anthony, don't you like me anymore, baby?” Celine continued seducing him. She placed her fingers on his mouth and traced the every line of his mouth. She was shameless even if she was a beauty. Anthony did not yield to her temptation. He pushed away her hands that was on his lips. “ Don't touch me with that filthy hand of yours. I don't like you and don't need you anymore. I have already a treasure that is most precious than you.” He used an idiom so that he will not get Danielle into danger. He looked at Danielle with a serious look.

I was starting to have too much fun in this den. When I took my first crack at tough skin, power coursed through my veins and bones and the frustration from earlier disappeared. Goddamn. I was made for this.

God, is this payback? My heart wasn't tired of the somersaults, but my mind was certainly tired of overworking. My body was getting weaker from the number of skips my heart was taking. I was getting dizzy as well, like I was developing high blood pressure. Just a few more minutes, I'd be free to find him anywhere he is and then ask him. I can't live with this. He might not know it, but I had a delicate heart. I wasn't being figurative, I was being literal. It was one of the reasons I steeled myself. If I'm stubborn and hard, I won't have much to worry about because my heart will be strong enough to take it. This was a rare occurrence.
