I was constantly scolded by my teachers since I was a kid, so my heart is now capable of withstanding criticism, my skin is thicker than the city walls, and that’s why I’m able to live a splendid and vibrant life even under the pressure of capitalists like you." Jay's handsome face twitched slightly.

She said before walking away, i smiled and picked up the perfume that i want. This past few days I have learnt to have a thick skin, if I want my peace of mind if i I want to be sane, I have to have a thick skin and not let anyone bully me and that's exactly what I'm going to do from now, that I like or have feelings for anyone, I won't let them bully me no more. There wasn’t an ounce of pretense in her voice. I shook my head, managing to utter, “Thank you,” though the words escaped my lips in a thin whisper. It wasn’t really my fault. I could feel the air growing thinner around me again. My chest felt heavy, as if someone had tightened a band around my ribs, pulling it ever tighter. My heart was working too hard; I could feel its relentless thumping. That deep, insistent ache I’d known for as long as I could remember had returned, demanding attention I desperately wished to ignore.

Joke. She had heard it all, and by the time her parents had run through all of their insults, her skin was so thick that she didn’t even shed a tear. Their words would sting, lashing her heart with each spit of some new curse aimed to hurt her. And she would flinch- scarred by each slice. Her blood would form scarlet drops and her eyes would swell with tears, a blend of the two dripping down her paling skin as she would limp away, her ego becoming broken and bruised.. And still, she would suffer in silence. For every time she would feel out loud, she would only bleed her tears faster.

Degh … My heart is beating

It was attention, and they were older and cool. Now I look like a doll that someone tried to rip in half, sewn back together by a drunk or a child. The rest of my skin is as milky smooth as it’s always been, but there’s a jagged, pink-edged tear, long enough that someone could shove their hand in and pull out my heart. Or the bond that’s still inexplicably inside my chest, throbbing and dark and sour. If I were a doll, I’d tear my own stuffing out.

“Every roar makes them kick harder. My belly feels so tight. So full. Every kick stretches the skin more. It aches, but it also feels so alive.” Cassian’s fingers traced slow, soothing circles over the heavy curve. The slight roughness of his calluses sent pleasant shivers across the sensitive skin. “They are strong. Just like their omega. Just like their fathers. Let them move. My heart is heavy with grief, and my soul is consumed with a burning rage that threatens to tear me up. I was losing it, and I wasn't myself anymore. I fell to the ground, and I kept hitting my fists against the rigid earth repeatedly, till my hands got scarred. But I didn't stop, I was undeterred. I wanted to let out my angst one way or the other. I kept stamping the earth, until I couldn’t feel my hands, no more. My flesh got completely ripped off, and my bare skeleton got fractured.

My true nature was revealed when my skin appeared in the sunlight, and I didn't want anyone to know my secret. But how could this be happening now, in this dimly lit café? I couldn't make sense of it, and my heart was pounding in my chest as I tried to hide my skin from Athen's view. The cracking of my skin was accompanied by a strange sound, like the sound of cracking ice. It was a sound that was both eerie and mesmerizing. I quickly crossed my legs, hoping to cover up the green light before it could be noticed.

Or at least not yet. So I walked slowly past the stares of my coworkers who had learned not to be my friend. Past the cameras that blinked red in every corner. My uniform felt too tight. My skin felt too thin. Inside me, something old and wild woke up, almost like his blood and pressed against my ribs. Don’t let them push you around. It cold air whispered and I wish I know how to do that.
