If he did not come quickly, she would fall asleep right there. Wan stood on the crossroads, waiting for a taxi. He saw a few pass by but they were all filled with passengers. He hit himself when he saw an Uber. He should have just call an Uber instead of wasting his time there. He was about to pull out his phone when someone interrupted him.

“I was going to love him with everything in me. Every single piece of me was already his. How do I just… keep breathing now? How do I keep walking through days when everything I hoped for has been ripped out of me?” Her own eyes glistened, but she blinked quickly, fighting tears for my sake. “You don’t have to know right now. You don’t have to figure out how. All you have to do is survive today… and then tomorrow… and then the day after. One breath at a time, one step at a time. And you don’t have to do it alone.” I shook my head, broken laughter slipping out. “Alone is all I’ve ever been good at.”
