“I sound crazy, right?”
Charles’s face softened, and he shook his head. “Not at all. I’ve heard stranger things. Can you show me—let’s see if we can prompt them.”
Solo nodded, focusing on her belly as she spoke. “All right, my little angels,” she said to the twins. “Would you like Uncle Charles to read you a bedtime story later?”
Nothing happened. The room was quiet, filled only with the soft sound of nature in the background. Charles waited and watched with skepticism and curiosity. But then, just as they both began to think nothing would happen, one twin gave a slight kick, almost as if he were acknowledging the question.
