Then, a voice—rough with effort—came through.
"How are you holding up?"
I let my smile fade.
"I'm doing well."
Silence fell again.
Losing patience, I said, "If there's nothing else, I'm going to hang up now."
His voice came through, sounding strangely weak.
"I made a museum for you, filled with all sorts of bracelets.
"And the dreamcatcher, I've repaired it."
I kept my tone cool.
"My lover's in the jewelry business. We don't need it.
"Plus, that dream catcher's beyond repair. It'll just break again. Goodbye."
