"What can I get you today?" The man asked and I stared at Sarah, allowing her to order her ice cream. "I want a strawberry ice cream with so many cherries on top," She said and the man wrote it down. "Good girl, you know what will happen if you have more than one bowl of ice cream?" I asked and she nodded, "All my teeth are going to fall out" She replied

Denying it will give him the satisfaction of knowing that I was indeed checking him out so instead I roll my eyes and say, "I've seen better." His smile doesn't falter, "You little liar, " he responds and dips the spoon back into the tub, scooping another bite. Oreo flavoured, I realise. The ice cream is Oreo-flavoured. I don't know what it is about that single discovery that momentarily disarms me. Maybe it's the fact that I never pegged him for an ice cream man much less an Oreo one. Or maybe it's because him eating ice cream at three am makes him just like the rest of us humans with indismissible late-night cravings

I was having my favorite flavor which is Vanila while he take a Chocolate flavor. "How do you know my favorite flavor is Vanila" I asked and he just laughed."What funny" because is laugh is contagious and I might find myself laughing too. "Seriously picturing little Rachael licking that ice cream cone is funny" he said and I hit him playfully. "I can't believe I didn't get the Ice cream after all my effort" I said and he laughed which I joined. It was during elementary school, the ice cream man made a special ice cream cone it was special and big I promise I would get it myself no matter the amount but I was delayed after class and I didn't get to have it.

I tolerated the pain, as I began to apply it like lotion all over my body. After contemplating for a while she chose, " Venus", " Are you sure?", " Yes", " One last chance ma'am", " I. I am sure", she said after hesitating for a second but she decided to stick with her instinct. The ice cream man frowned, " correct", he said and took the cone from her. She grinned in excitement as she watched him fill the cone with ice cream. He handed the ice cream back to her and said in admiration, " I must say, you're one brilliant woman", " Thank you", she cooed as she licked the ice cream in joy. Letting the cold sweet ice melt in her mouth, she moaned.

As if he read my mind his smile faded, and he looked away quickly. He opened the fridge and took out a tub of ice cream. I snickered. One of the staff gave us two bowls and spoons. He scooped generous amounts of chocolate ice cream into them and handed me one. “Ice cream is the best medicine.” He said, winking at me. “And you know that why?” I took a bite of the cold confection and let it melt in my mouth. “Well, I’ve had my fair share of feeling miserable.” He said, licking his spoon. “The man who took me under his wing, Big Jim was his name, he taught me everything I knew. This was one of them. Ice cream made bad feelings go away.”
