If He Had Been With Me Book Summary Novels & Stories

I just tried to focus on the book but I couldn't because he was staring. I gave up struggling and talked to him, and he was really surprised with the kind of book I was reading. He said the book was like two big Bibles joined together. And when I told him it wasn't much he looked at me like I had lost my mind. And then silence........ I suddenly felt his hand on mine and I flinched immediately. Oh God! He had an effect on me and he knew it. He looked sad, abi desperate. Which one? Then he apologized for last night.

He never did. Only now should I realize how unbelievably stupid I had been to even think of leaving him, to get angry at the truth. To imagine a life without Philip. I had not accomplished anything on my own; if he wasn't with me, I would've been somewhere on the streets looking for food just so my baby would be alive. But here I was, because of Philip. The door opened, and the man in question walked in. His appearance didn't seem like the meeting had gone horribly bad. It was as if he had actually had fun. There was a vivid light in his eyes, the ghost of a smile on his lips, and a lightness of himself.

I grinned widely, a victorious smirk on my face, and walked over to see if he was still alive. I saw him soaked in his own blood, barely breathing. “Aish! I was planning to keep you alive so you could tell me what I needed to know, but you were determined to die,” I said, shaking my head. He coughed, blood spilling from his mouth, so I immediately called one of my comrades to report what happened. While waiting, I passed the time reading a story. I came across a story titled “Play with Me, Mr. Billionaire.”

He may have spent very little time training me or helping me, but he had played a large part in it all. If it hadn’t been for him and his need for a contract, I don’t know if I would be where I am today. I unquestionably don’t think I would have been able to face Chad the way I had. He helped me when I needed it, now maybe I can do the same for him. “Okay.” I consented, not knowing what else to say. Before he had a chance to add anything else, I left the office. Now that he was going to be staying with me, I wanted to take some time to myself. After we had come back home, I had gone straight to the shower to wash the blood off me.

He turned around and with his stride, he walked away. My eyes are fixed on his back, the way his step collapses and the strength of his walk as it seems every eye is falling at his watch as he moves. The very ground looks like it is collapsing, and I cannot help but watch as he walks until he disappears completely. “Oh my goodness what just happened” I ransacked my brain as I walked as fast as my legs could carry me until I settled back into the seat. “I saw that, what did he say to you?” Overzealous Jessy asked me as soon as I rejoined her on the seat.

Something he doesn't know was ,he took a part of me with him the first time we met at Dunn's Haven. He wants to have me but... I was already his.

It still hurt to think about what had happened, what I had lost, but I knew that with him by my side, I would get over it, I could get better because he shared that pain with me, he was as bad as I was. Only with him had I been able to feel better, only with him had I felt good again, and I wanted to feel good with him. I sighed, put the key in the lock, turned around, and opened the door. I entered the house and put the keys in the basket next to the door with a sigh, and then I turned around. I froze. My breath was missed as I saw what was in front of me.

I didn't mean to be mean because he did help me out but he was preventing me from actually researching. "Well you kind of need me to help conjure up the ingredients." He said with a simple shrug. "Well can I take this book afterwards. I want to learn everything I can about my soul." It was my last shot. I needed this book. It had everything in it that could save me.

“Not if I can stop it. Not if we stop it together.” The words struck something deep in me. For the first time since waking in this second life, I realized the truth: I wasn’t just changing my fate. I was rewriting his, too. He reached for my hand, threading his fingers through mine. “You trust me?” My heart stuttered. “I don’t know if I can afford to.” “Then don’t,” he said softly. “Just stay alive with me.” And before I could reply, he turned toward the door, already issuing orders to his security detail over the phone.

“Because you’re with me.” I stared at him, the fear and confusion warring with something else…something I couldn’t name. “What now?” He stood, offering me his hand. “Now, we run.” I stared at his outstretched hand, my chest tightening. His words echoed in my mind: Because you’re with me. It wasn’t an apology, but it felt like one. The faint sounds of shouts and hurried footsteps snapped me back to reality. They were still looking for us. There was no time to dwell on anything but survival.
