The doctor stated confidently. A sentence came into my mind that had me looking up at the doctor with wide eyes. "I know how to open up a door. You have to turn the door handle." I stated confidently. That's why the door handle giggled, it needed to be turned. "It's a door knob sweet heart. Not a handle." My father stated as he pressed his lips together. "Turn the door knob." I whispered as the words just came to me. "I can remember things." I rushed out with a smile. If they told me the words I would remember. They were inside my head. I could only assume it would take time for my memories to come back.

I strain my memory, attempting to recall where I've seen him before. And then it hits me.

Eric POV As I sit there trying hard to remember different things, I realize how compromised my memory is. I vaguely remember my uncle and cousin attacking me, but I do not remember a lot. Likely a blessing given how damaged I had been. I fear if there will be any long-term effects.

I squinted my eyes as much as possible trying to avoid the light from burning my eyes. I looked to my side and saw a notebook then memories came flashing into my brain. I remembered how the doctor had given me that notebook and how I had written something down on it. I sat up carefully on my bed and reached for the notebook. When I read the content, my heart rate shot up. What if it didn’t work? Am I not supposed to start remembering things now? Let me try. I took in a deep breath and tried to remember something that happened a year ago. It was supposed to be my wedding Anniversary with Rick. He had forgotten obviously but I remembered.
