Chapter 134: Abyss of Regrets DAMIEN’S POV I woke with a violent gasp, my body slamming against something that felt like cold stone yet dissolved into smoke the moment I touched it. The impact rattled through my bones, stealing the air from my lungs. Darkness stretched in every direction, an endless, suffocating void that pressed against my skin with icy, probing fingers. It wasn't a mere absence of light. This darkness breathed, it watched, and it hungered.

Within the separate, Ethan saw a faint shine, a little, flashing light that appeared to beckon them forward. “That's it,” Miriam said, her voice resounding within the emptiness. “The heart of the abyss.” They moved towards the light, the quietness around them was harsh. At last, they came to the heart of the abyss, a gigantic, throbbing sphere of darkness that drifted within the air before them. The light that had drawn them in was coming from inside it, a little, flashing fire that appeared to be battling against the obscurity.

I try to catch onto it, searching through the blurry shapes around me. My eyes droop closed, and exhaustion tries to pull me back into the creeping darkness. It tries to swallow my vision whole again, but a deep agonizing pang sharpens my senses. I lurch forward, disoriented and confused. Stone cracked across streets that had survived centuries beneath the mountain. The Forgotten surged forward with renewed fury, throwing themselves against the Hollow Guard's defensive lines while the enormous shape beneath them continued its ascent. The eye never left me. Not once. I wished it had. There was something unbearable about being seen by it. Not looked at. Seen. As if it were examining every fear, every doubt, every memory I had ever carried—and finding them wanting.
