KEILAH I was wandering into the woods, my senses alive with the crisp scent of pine and the soft rustle of leaves underfoot. A tranquil solitude enveloped me, wrapping around my soul like a comforting embrace. But then, as if nature had scripted a sudden twist, the serenity fractured. A distant howl pierced the air, stirring a primal fear within. It was joined by others, a haunting chorus echoing through the trees. My heart quickened its pace, mirroring the urgency of the wilderness around me. I turned to retrace my steps, only to find my path obscured by an impenetrable thicket.

A void. My heart gave a hard, painful thump against my ribs. “What the hell?” Spark whispered, her bravado vanishing. I took a cautious step backward, extending my foot past where the path should have been. My boot met solid, packed earth. It was still there. We just couldn’t see it. “It’s an illusion. Or a spatial fold,” Liam said, his voice tight. “The jungle’s defense mechanism. It’s not letting us leave the same way we came.”

“I didn’t ask to.” “And yet you came.” Elira looked around. “Why now? Why me?” The Seabound woman reached out—and placed a palm against Elira’s chest. The mark beneath her skin flared. “You are the key to the Rift.” Elira frowned. “What Rift?” The woman stepped back, voice grave. “The place where the Moon drowned and never returned.” --- They led her to the center of the isle. There, hidden beneath coral-covered ruins, was a great mirror—circular, vast, filled not with reflection but motion. She looked into it and saw a city—burning beneath the ocean. Cracked towers. Fading lights. Wolves made of coral and shadow pacing through empty temples.

Sitting opposite each other in the hiding place they found, Grayson asks, "How the hell does this horrific game end?" Malisha laughs. "We have barely even started, and you are already asking for the end." "Sue me for wanting to keep my mental health in balance," Grayson mumbles. Malisha laughs at him, and he glares at her. They both hear a roar, and Malisha whispers, "Do not say anything." Grayson nods, and when he sees what let out the roar, his mouth drops open in shock. "This is all an illusion, right?" he whispers in question. Malisha smiles. "Not exactly unless whoever or whatever we encounter has illusion magic."

Click! In the middle of the night, a small sound of a door being unlocked echoed throughout the office. At the end of this sound, everything was in absolute silence. A tall figure in black entered the room and looked around. The person was on a mission to find the missing material. It was important that everything in this room was thoroughly searched—every drawer, every shelf, even the small spaces between furniture. The sources informed what was needed was hidden in an object. Luckily, the night was long enough for a detailed search of every item.

Laurel asked, confusion evident in her voice. "I woke up in one of Darik's hotel rooms naked with Vanessa beside me. I don't know how we ended up there. I have no memory of what led us there and the same goes for Vanessa. She thinks I raped her to get back at her and Brian. You should see the eyes she now uses to look at me.
