"I can't keep you here. You're free to walk out if you choose. Hear me out first, though, if you would."
"O-kay."
"Your father worked hard to set up everything to bring you here. If you were to leave, it would unravel all of that. On top of that, you're not ready. It's dangerous out there."
By "dangerous" I know that he's not talking about the typical dangers of the world. He's talking about something deeper, more mysterious.
Something evil.
A shiver runs through me.
"Your father was a great man," he says, "and he did amazing things for this world. So I don't take your background lightly. I do, however, have a duty to protect you and help you succeed."
