"She always finds out. You don't know my mama." Voss straightens. His patience hasn't broken. It's not that kind of patience. It's the deep cold kind that doesn't break, only shifts methods. He turns slightly and nods toward the kind-voiced man. The kind-voiced man reaches into his jacket. He takes out something small. A vial. Dark liquid inside that catches the moonlight in a way that makes my stomach do something cold and involuntary. He walks toward me slowly. And even though I don't know exactly what it is, my body knows. The thing under my skin knows. The weather inside me spikes so suddenly and so hard that I have to press both hands flat against the log to keep from reacting.

He's lying there lifeless in a pool of his own blood, his white polo shirt ripped off at the chest and fresh blood oozing from what looks like a fresh wound around the left breast. My heart stops beating for a moment as I throw myself on his body, picking the murder weapon which is a Ceska pistol and throwing it beside him.. Placing my ear on his chest, I feel his faint heart beat and my face lits up. I try resuscitating him without minding the blood....that's when the unthinkable happens.. Sirens rent the warm afternoon wind! It was a set up! A damn fucking set up! It's already too late to redeem myself.

They stood like statues, stunned on what just happened, their brain processing the horrifying event, hearts beating in melodic rhythm; fast and deep. Black smokes rose up into the heavens, staining the clean blue sky and filling the air with the smell of burnt grass and oil. All the cries and shouting suddenly fell silent. Even Maddy stopped sobbing; her cloudy puffy eyes were on them. As usual, it was her who always broke the silence. Bringing everyone to talk and in a non-diplomatic argument. "Badbloods" she said in a low growling voice but the hate and anger in it was loud and clear.

This scene was like a movie wherein the police officers chased a criminal, tried to save two teenagers, and maybe get big cash rewards from their wealthy families. Out of nervousness, the kidnapper speed up the gasoline so he could escape from them. The kidnapper didn't notice the truck speeding up on their way and the last thing they remembered was the car crashing and rolling on the busy midnight street.

He was pale as a ghost, and his heart had stopped beating. He was already cold as ice. Meanwhile, the sounds of bragging from Wayne's room hit me like a sledgehammer. "Ms. Stewart! Shouldn't we have the doctor check on Frank, just in case?" "Josh’s son is as worthless as his life. He won't die that easily." Jessica's voice was soft, but it cut through me like ice. "Just take care of yourself. If he dies, the Stewart family will have one less problem to deal with.
