The night of the Blood Eclipse still evokes horror. Julian's corpse, which had returned to its original form due to the loss of magic in his death, lay lifeless on the ground floor of Olympus Tower. The arrogant man who once thought he was holding onto heaven in Bloodmoon is now just a pile of dirty flesh that history will never remember.

Beta Sebastian continued to try holding me to the ground but he was no match for Juxes. Juxes burst from his grasp filled with a new sense of urgency. Racing out the door. As soon as our feet hit the concrete patio our feet lost traction. A sea of blood covered as far as the eye could see. Overhead a disembodied arm fell one branch after another before falling to the ground before me.

Blood spilled onto the cold floor. Drip. Drip. Drip. I dipped my finger into it. Wrote a name. Zane. Then another. LUCIEN. And the third. KAELA. I stared at them…..red and raw and shining under the moonlight like promises. “If this is hell,” I whispered, voice hoarse, savage, alive…. “Then I’ll be its fucking fire.” And from the floor, with blood pooling around my knees and hate burning in my chest, I began to hum that lullaby again.

My boot lands on wet earth. And like a nightmare, the ground disappears beneath me. For one horrible second, nothing happens. Then everything does. The soil gives out. Loose rocks slide violently beneath my feet. My stomach drops. “Oh shi—” The incline collapses under me. I scream. And then I’m falling.

“You’ll do so well tonight” I wanted to bristle, to snap back at his arrogance, but the weight of his gaze rooted me to the floor. My pulse betrayed me, racing under his scrutiny, and I hated that a part of me craved his approval even as another part rebelled. He offered his arm. “We’re late.” ***** The Moretti mansion was a palace dipped in gold. Chandeliers glittered overhead, their light scattering across crystal glasses and polished silverware. The air smelled of expensive perfume and something darker underneath—power, violence, old blood.

"There is b—blood down there." "What?" She back away from the hole, pointing at it with a shaky finger. "Blood, Val. There's blood in there." I walked up to the hole to take a look. And sure enough, there was blood on the surrounding floor boards. Dried blood. "I was trying to scrub the floor and the board moved." Veronica explained, her voice still full of fear.

I could see it plain as day. My life slows down as I pull away from her, whatever was about to happen would hurt. Then she lets go, it’s like a bungee cord exploded through the men and women fighting. Her scream was so loud it shook the trees, it sent rogues flying in all directions as she let loose. I watch as a rogue's eyes, ears, nose and mouth start to bleed, the colour drains from his face as he falls to his knees, and then to the ground, dropping dead like a zombie.
