He pressed his snout beneath her hips, nose pushing between her thighs in a crude, instinctual sweep of scent.
She shrieked.
Pain exploded across my face as the wooden spoon cracked down hard against my nose.
For one suspended, terrible second, the entire cabin went silent.
“Kill her,” my beast snarled.
“Do not touch her,” I roared back internally.
“She struck us.”
“She didn’t know what you were doing, you brute.”
“She hit us for sniffing what smells like paradise. She deserves punishment.”
