"Let her celebrate her birthday with Cole, her boyfriend. You are not the center of the universe, Zoey says while crossing her arms.
At her, Cole snarls. Growls, yes. similar to a real dog. While everyone else simply ignores him, Maggie laughs.
After lunch, Zeke drives me to class while I listen to him tell me about the time he saw one of the cooks smoking marijuana in the kitchen and how he thinks they use dog meat.
He continues, "I don't know. I just prefer to avoid eating a cute little puppy."
As I pause at the entrance to my history class, I smirk. "I adore you, Zeke, but you need to stop berating the chefs. They're really lovely people, in fact."
