They crossed paths every ten minutes. “Aim and shoot, kid,” Levi said, and I saw a glint of excitement in his eyes. This was what he had lived for once upon a time, and honestly, that look in his eyes scared me a little. He loved this. I stepped forward and pulled us out of the realm and the rifle went up against my shoulder automatically. The first two Zetas never even saw us coming, and they both went down as soon as they rounded the corner and appeared in our field of vision. We dragged their bodies out of sight and continued forward. I stepped into the other realm again as Levi and I split up.

I kinda like Ava, but Sam says she gets a weird vibe from her, and Sam is hardly ever wrong. Besides with Nicole. We're sitting in the first period, breaking off in groups to work on an assignment. My chest tightened, and it was then reality cracked upon me that all this time Zahir had been telling the story of Zeve’s parents, grandparents and their struggle with Derek and the vampires. I was disappointed for her as she had worked so hard to get here, but in the end it wasn’t up to me, or my choice. I did make a new friend though. His name is Zeke, and he’s the teacher’s aid for our pediatric care class. He’s not sure if he wants to go on to be a doctor, or become a professor. He said time would tell. He seems pretty nice, and we get along well. When Lexi isn’t available he’s become my study partner. I’m not sure if he’s supposed to be doing that since he’s an aid, but he’s been helpful. Levi, standing on the other side of the alley, clapped his hands together as he didn't want to be left out of the conversation. "Yeah, Z, you did good out there. Levi sat in the Tundra for several long moments staring through the window to the ER waiting room. He watched Dani sit down with Zane and her uncle and take both their hands. Who the hell was this Zane character? Had he and Dani been together before that Brandon guy? They seemed way too comfortable together for Levi’s liking. They sttood naked in the dimly lit playroom, the air thick with anticipation and the musky scent of arousal that lingered from their earlier encounters. Zeke stood tall and commanding, his presence radiating control as he eyed Eli and Damien with a mix of possession and intent.
