Infiltrating The Castle Novels & Stories

I have to. Once Radiance takes off, I begin running toward the castle. I’ve only been to King Emmanuel’s castle a couple of times. I pull up my memory of the layout as I run. I remember there’s a supply entrance away from the main gate, and I shift directions to the side of the castle to find it. It’s chaos, just like it was at our castle with fires everywhere, burning bodies falling from the castle’s ramparts, soldiers shouting orders, and dragons screaming. Thankfully, it’s the chaos that will allow me to get inside the castle unnoticed.

Dark magic lingered in the air, and the once-thriving forest surrounding Pierce's castle was now withered and tainted. As Khal and his army stormed into Pierce's castle, the air crackled with tension. The once-ornate halls were now marred with dark stains and the echoes of battle. Khal, with his fangs bared and eyes glowing red with anger, strode forward, his presence commanding respect and fear.

’ Zed’s voice comes, calm and powerful in my mind. ‘Understood! Keep me in the loop.’ I say as I scan the area around me once more before I sneak towards the castle, glancing up at the windows. A time will come when I will somehow have to tell Zedkiel, but it’s not the priority right now. The windows are all barred, but there’s one much higher up that seems to be opened. That will be my entrance… - Ten minutes later, I’m making my way through the castle. Every door is padlocked, and there are men stationed at every corner.

I turn around slowly , holding my breath. The once abandoned and destroyed castle , the once dark gloomy underground town is buzzing with life. I am no longer in a cave – I am in this town and this town is up out under the sun. The castle is built up and is free from creepers – there are people walking around , soldiers on guard. I look at the castle and something about it looks so familiar, like I have seen it before. While scanning the castle I see it’s flag flying in the wind – and just like that I feel myself falling to my knees , ignoring all the pain as I feel it all coming back to me.

A servant appeared soundlessly. “Elias,” Dracula said, “see Miss Blackthorne to her room.”

He lunged weakly toward me, but I slipped past him and darted into the hallway. The moment I stepped outside, the castle felt larger than before, filled with shadows and soft noises that traveled from every direction. It was built differently from Oliver’s—less elegant, more brutal, and intentionally confusing. The corridors branched in multiple directions, some leading downward into darker tunnels and others leading toward balconies overlooking the forest. I needed a path that led outside, not deeper in.

she threw a warm smile over her shoulder, directed at Elliot. I moved back a little, walking slowly next to Elliot, “Is she talking about Chaos?” I whispered. “Mhmm,” he responded with a light nod. My mind was swirling with questions. How did she know with a single glance at Elliot? Xantha’s main castle was stunning. The exterior was a deep, almost black-blue stone with creeping vines covering a large portion of the walls. Crystal clear blue waters surround the base of the castle, flowing into nearby canals that traveled away from the castle. The guards posted on each side of the door bowed as we walked across the bridge before opening the large double doors.

The falls look normal during this time of the year, and they do a good job of insulating noises from coming in or out of the castle. The only way into Castle Pestera, other than the front door, which has a huge drawbridge and a mote, is through the cave which is heavily guarded. I show up with a new identity and forged papers about being hired as a new guard. The guards look over my documents skeptically before one of them escorts me through the caves. The caves are steep and half-filled with water.
