I sighed and pushed the cup away, “how did you know?” Rio spoke first, “I read minds.” “I can see your aura,” Elle spoke after him. “What are you guys?” I asked as I looked around the room. “Demons,” the Jaxson said. “Angel,” Elle said after them. My jaw dropped, “those are real?” Kingston laughed, “is that so hard to believe, vamp?” My cheeks heated at my naïveté, “no, I just had never met any.”

I look up and see Damen flying straight towards me. His black knee-length biker boots slam into the ground causing it to shake momentarily from the impact. He turns away from me to fight off several demons that have circled around me, in my weakened state. I watch as he spins rapidly with his dark black wings extended and manages to knock most of them away and creating an opening. I dropped the heavy-looking but light book on a table and turned to the first page, the effect making me sneeze loudly. Covering my nose I tried to dust it and saw neat handwriting. As I flipped through the pages, the handwriting got messier and messier. It was harder to depict what this X person was trying to say. I went back to the first page and read it. ‘I did it. I made a deal with her. I’m not sure I did the right thing. Wolves that have made deals with demons had never ended well but I know what I’m risking and I have to do this. His body cracked and sinews moved. His fingernails narrowed into saber claws. They were large, hairy, and dangerously clawed hands of a beast. He bent like an animal and headed into the woods. ‘A werewolf?’ Jesse asked, wide-mouthed. ‘ But it is almost dawn?’ ‘ Don’t be so dumb’ Jake snarled ‘ he is a demon. Alvaro is very lucky that he did not, as he normally did on several occasions, come here alone. Take care of Alvaro while I take care of him!’

I tried to breathe but the bastard had its entire weight on my body, crushing my ribs and digging its claws into my arm. Snarling, I placed the palm of my hand on the ground. The runes on my arm burned red as the earth began to rumble. I turned to the demon and smiled as chains erupted from the ground. They shot through the monster's flesh, severing through its body fat and slicing off one of its breasts. I closed my eyes as a rain of flesh and vile blood rained down on me. I was going to need another fucking bath. I rolled onto my feet, my breath ragged as I scanned for the last monster. “Thrakos," I called as more chains curled out of my runes. "What the fuck are these–"
