Images of darkness and despair swirled in my mind, fueled by the haunting echoes of a nightmare that refused to release its grip. In the depths of my subconscious, I found myself ensnared in a chilling vision, one where Lucius, the ruthless alpha king, stalked through the shadows, his gaze alight with a malevolent fury. In my dream, he hunted me relentlessly, his presence a sinister specter that loomed over my every move. I jolted awake, my heart pounding against my chest, beads of sweat clinging to my skin like a shroud of fear. The remnants of the nightmare lingered, a haunting reminder of the dangers that lurked in the shadows of my past.

When I finally did fall asleep from pure exhaustion, the nightmares started immediately. In the first one, I was back at that compound. But this time, I didn't throw the knife fast enough.

It was the fear that had firmly settled in my head that awakened in me a thirst to get to the bottom of the truth at all costs. Once, after another nightmare, I woke up with a wildly pounding heart, dawn was already breaking, and the first rays penetrated into our closet with Ines. I raised my hand to throw back the blanket, and only miraculously did not yell at the whole shelter. The fingers of my right hand were black, as if they had been rubbed with coal, I froze in horror, the blackness flowed from my fingers into my palm and seemed to be absorbed into my hand.

Her eyes closed. Tabitha jerked up in bed. She could feel her body was soaked with sweat. What kind of dream was that? She looked over at Mark who was still asleep. She slowly got out of bed and went to the bathroom. She turned the water on and splashed it on her face. Her mind was still racing. She kept having these dreams but she didn’t know what they meant. Who was the guy in the dreams that she couldn’t see? She never could make out his face. And why was Mark always hurting her in the dreams?
