THE MATE THE ALPHA NEVER CHOSE
Gradually, my composure began to return, akin to a wayward wanderer finding their path back home.
As the train thundered forward, its rhythmic chugging blending with the steadiness of my heartbeat, my composure fully returned. The beast that resided within me retreated to the depths from which it emerged. My breathing steadied, and I regained control over my powers, and gratitude and relief were pretty much all I felt.
Although the earlier unease still lingered, it now existed on the outskirts of my consciousness, a mere whisper in the wind. With every passing moment, its grip loosened, replaced by the familiar calm I had grown to appreciate.
