I threw my arms around his neck and held him there, calling through the bond, pleading with him not to leave, and pleading with God not to kill us with… whatever this was.
And then… just like something had powered through a lake and tossed huge waves on the shore, but now the water settled, that ocean of power retreated.
We were both left there, gasping and shaking… and stronger.
When I could breathe without a fight, I blinked my eyes open and kept holding him there to me, but turned my attention inwards, examining myself. Because something had changed.
