He had stolen a time machine, gone back to the past to the fledgling star that would grow into an empire, and was now attempting to gain everybody's trust to save them, and win his time machine and technology back to prevent irresponsible usage. He could feel himself being watched, evaluated and analysed for his trustworthiness. He was surprised that he wasn't being isolated, interrogated then shipped off, but that had to be purely due to Emmet's influence. Nobody here gave any indication to know that he was a time traveller, so nobody knew who he was.

Matthew was overcome with happiness. The original goal of why he became a Hunter in the first place was to explore the world for a way to return home to Earth. I breathe out, “Because… I can travel through mirrors. It takes me to like… another dimension. I don’t like to do it because the other dimensional version of me could try to come out. And… if she comes out then I would get locked in until she came back through.” Franklin frowns deeply and says, “You say that like it’s a fact… like you know from experience that you would have a hard time coming back.”
