Interesting Mystery Books Novels & Stories

After a brief scolding from my teacher, I was sent to assist the librarian. The library was a sanctuary of towering shelves and soft whispers, its grandeur unexpectedly breathtaking. The scent of aged books and polished wood wrapped around me like a comforting cloak. Wandering through the aisles, I stumbled upon a dimly lit corner that exuded an eerie presence. A single book stood out—its cover blank and edges charred. Curious, I picked it up. "Weird," I muttered, flipping through its brittle pages. My blood ran cold when I saw my name inscribed on the last page.

Still, she found nothing out of the ordinary. Dismayed, Roselle sighed. "What am I doing?" she murmured to herself. Realizing that she was just being ridiculous, Roselle decided to return all the books when her eyes caught another book stained with blood. This time the book was located in the centre of the shelf. Roselle stared at it intently, not rushing to pull it off the rack. She told herself rationally that it was probably just a coincidence and would more likely than not be the same as the other books. Probably someone injured had touched the books not realizing that they stained it with their blood. But Roselle's curiosity won over and she reached out for it.

Then giving me a smile of thanks she added, “I appreciate you giving me time to kick this thing out of me. This is our first case. I would have felt terrible being left out of it.” I thought on how I’d managed to solve most of my cases with clues that I got from sitting down and getting what I thought were visions from rooms and objects. Then, I remembered Lance’s definition of paranormal. According to my long lost husband, I’d been dealing in the paranormal for some time. It just wasn’t with ghosts and goblins. Looking directly at my friend, I asked, “Are we actually new to the paranormal? Are we really?”

, the walls were painted a deep shade of brown, that were so warm against the reflection of the dim lighting. "Wow, lovely room...she does know how to make simplicity beautiful." He soliloqized. At least he could spend some time knowing her on his own. His attention was also drawn to a tall, white vase sitting prettily on another table near the door. Inside the vase, there were three red roses blooming. And as he observed them, he realized that there was a pint of blood on the petals, and a part of the vase. "How did this get here?" He wondered, concluding that she must have spilled some blood from her bruise. He ignored the blood and went over to the small bookshelf standing behind the vase

I can feel a shiver run down my spine as I gulp. Something is weird about the atmosphere... how come everyone suddenly disappears? I slowly swallow the candy that was sitting in my mouth. It was a soft candy, so it didn't hurt my throat. Clenching the handle of my bag tightly, I try to walk as normally as I could master. *Bathump! Bathump!* Calm down... there must be a reasonable explanation why this happened, right? A shadow shape of a person appeared behind me. The more I try to walk faster, the more it follows me. Turning around to the different alleyway, I tried to lose the shadow. Since I wasn't paying attention to where I'm heading, I ended up walking to a dead end.

“Were these any help, detective?” “I’m afraid not,” I said, defeated. I was in a bit of a daze after staring at projected newsprint on the dim screen. I leaned on the desk and looked around the building absentmindedly until my eyes finally settled on a small sign hanging on a table covered with a neat stack of books. “Warning: The Library is Not Responsible for Nightmares!” I read out loud, walking over to look at the books. Well-worn volumes with pink skulls grinning back at me from stickers on their spines. Dracula. Frankenstein. The Invisible Man.

I need to take time. I remember the small room I entered last time. I slowly opened the door and turned on the lampshade. The books on the table were still scattered. I tried to look and read each one of them. These are all interesting books. Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli, The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and a lot more. I tried to find something that might help me, but I found nothing.

I sat beside her, and she immediately stretched her legs back out, her feet landing in my lap. "What are you reading?" She held up the book without looking away from the page. "A mystery novel. A detective in Victorian London." I caught sight of the cover. A woman in a low-cut dress leaned against a man in a top hat, their faces inches apart in the fog. The Scarlet Letter Murders. I grabbed the book from her hands. "Hey!" She sat up, reaching for it. I flipped through a few pages. My eyes landed on a passage. His mouth found the hollow of her throat as his fingers worked the laces of her corset…

The doctor was taken aback at her question, he gave her a confused look and since her expression didn't change, his suspicion was confirmed. This was really one mysterious couple, maybe they are not part of this world, or have mental problems,else, why would a full grown woman be asking him such stupid question. Doesn't she have knowledge of atleast the basic biology? How the hell, was he supposed to answer that 'oh madam, that strange young man that just left here, inserted his penis into your vagina and in the process his semen was released and you became pregnant' such dumb question from a dumb woman.

What if the solution to our problems wasn't buried in these pages at all? As I scanned through the pile, hoping to find something, anything, my eyes widened as I spotted a book that seemed out of place. It was old and weathered, bound in dark leather with strange symbols etched on its cover. Intrigued and yet wary, I picked it up and began flipping through its pages. The forbidden text inscribed within revealed itself slowly but surely; ancient runes etched in blood-red ink that seemed to pulsate with dark energy.
