"It will pull me out of this nightmare." It was fire, not blood, running through my veins, and I felt warmth in the folds of my heart, which had slowed down. The heat was so strong that the thin skin of my heart had perhaps abandoned its color and turned black, as if in the middle of a fire. I lost all sense of time when the flames leapt into my soul; I didn't know what the elapsed time was. I heard the door open, raiding steps moving through the room; the sound of harsh footsteps echoed through my mind.

Us? I gasped suddenly, feeling the flame at the core of my chest, burning fiercely, spreading like wildfire within me. It felt like my soul itself was on fire. I could hear faint furious growls coming from within me. A consuming power pumping in my veins, The heat in my chest began to work its way to my throat and I felt the insane urge to scream. I felt the power at the tip of my tongue, and I couldn't fight it anymore. My lips parted, releasing a tortured scream.

Or so I hoped. The fire seemed to grow hotter, the flames dancing higher and higher. I could feel the heat radiating towards me, even though the fire wasn't actually touching me.
