I turned the lights off and climbed under the covers, asleep before my head hit the pillow as his scent overtook my senses. The forest was loud tonight, a cacophony of sounds that overwhelmed the senses, made my ears ring with incessant sounds. The moon was bright in the sky, silver light washed over everything as far as the eye could see. Behind me, the sky glowed red, dancing like flames. It wasn’t until I smelt the smoke that I realized it actually was fire. The entire forest behind me was on fire and it was burning fast, headed straight for me.

ALICE POV The fire dances right before my eyes like a wall of bright orange flowers covering the walls of the buildings. It spreads fast, intensified by the strong winds, melting the snow on the ground and sending a big cloud of black smoke into the night air. I'm on the floor in front of the fireplace now as Igneous quickly tries to start a fire. Suddenly a dark void fills my vision. Black eyes look into mine and then quickly disappear. I see the void push Igneous away from the mantle as it takes the gasoline fear and throws it on the wood.

Ash filled my mouth, tasting of copper and scorched earth. “Is this it for me?” I whispered, my cheek pressed against the burning soil. I squeezed my eyes shut, unable to look at the approaching wall of fire. “Is this where I die?” I began to mutter a frantic, disjointed prayer, waiting for the heat to finally consume my skin and turn my bones to dust. “Would you shut your pathetic mouth, you insignificant pest?” The voice break the silence; it felt like a serrated blade dragging across the inside of my skull. It was cold,impossibly cold cutting right through the roar of the forest fire.

As I'm fighting with my tiredness, my eyelids finally close. It was dark every single time. But it was warm. I could hear a fire burning in the distance. My legs move on their own, and I do nothing to stop. This time it was different. I was not afraid. I see the fire. Its flames make me feel calm, the warmth emanating from it kisses my skin, and I feel only peace. Is like a spell that calls me to it. And I let myself enjoy Its touch, surprised that there's no pain. Is not burning my flesh. Then the flames changed. They were no redder and orange; they were blue and purple.
