No answer came. After another moment, Adriana shook her head. "I'm imagining things." Even so, she couldn't resist glancing over her shoulder twice before disappearing around the corner. Silence returned. Several minutes passed. Then, a shadow slowly detached itself from the darkness between the towering bookshelves inside the library. It had no clear face. No distinct form. Only two pale eyes glimmered within the darkness. Its gaze rested on the ancient black book. The library remained deathly still. After a long silence, the shadow spoke.

They screamed in rage, retreating into the shadows as the light enveloped the room. Kaelen turned to her, his eyes widening in awe. "You did it, Amelia! You pushed them back!" But before they could celebrate, a cold laugh echoed through the room, sending chills down Amelia's spine. "Foolish children," a voice taunted, smooth and sinister. "You think you can beat me that easily?" From the shadows emerged The Shadow himself, cloaked in darkness, his eyes glowing with hatred. The air grew heavy with fear as he stepped forward, an evil grin spreading across his face.

He pointed toward the edge of the woods, where the light of the setting sun cast long, distorted shadows. "Mama," Cian said, his voice trembling. "One of the shadows... it's not following the sun." I looked. Near a cluster of pine trees, a shadow was walking toward us. It was the shadow of a man in a crown, my father. But he wasn't alone. Attached to his shadow’s hand was another, smaller shadow. It was a shadow with three arms. The Librarian's failed creation. The shadow of my father didn't speak. It simply pointed toward the "New North" we had just printed. And in its other hand, it held a New Ledger.

My breath came in sharp, shallow bursts as I stared at Marcus's lifeless body, the pool of blood around him spreading like ink on a parchment. I hadn't done this. I couldn’t have done this. Could I? A jolt of panic coursed through me, snapping me out of my frozen state. I backed away, my gaze darting around the room. The shadows on the walls seemed alive, coming closer to me. I needed to think, to move, but my legs felt like lead.

Wolves were running all over, and then she got a mindlink. "The Shadow Howlers are here, and it looks like they came to fight," Her dad said in the mindlink to the pack. Why would The Shadow Howlers come to their pack? They were the pack that basically policed other packs, but The Last Moon Pack hadn't done anything wrong. In fact, they were so vanilla that Bianca hoped her mate would take her away. She picked Trisha up and ran toward the pack house. They got to the front porch just as the warriors arrived.

At this point, I wasn't even surprised. I sat cross-legged near one of the large windows, attempting to read. The shadow from earlier lingered nearby, watching me and occasionally drifting from shelf to shelf. I should have been alarmed, but instead, I found myself smiling. Somehow, the strange little creature felt familiar now, like an unexpected friend. Outside, darkness settled over the kingdom, and moonlight spilled across the library floor. I turned another page, then froze. The shadow had moved closer without me noticing. Slowly, carefully, the darkness stretched upward, forming a thin ribbon before wrapping itself gently around my wrist. I stared, and the shadow immediately went still

My eyes landed on books, portions, maps, carved objects and barrels that contained pepper red substances. “What’s this place?” I curiously asked. “We call it the dark room, it contains everything you need to know about Shadowclaw. The book over there is yours to read. It will give you instructions on how to help him.” He answered. I picked the book which was titled ‘LUNA’ and walked out.

Dell lays his hand once again on the big leather book. “What do you mean daddy? How am I so special besides being born a female instead of a male?” Corbin asks looking at the book intently before finally looking up at her dad as he stares at his hand on top of the book. “When you were about a year old. Paden showed up with this book under her arm. She told me that she found it and that it belongs to me and my blood line.” Dell sighs as he let’s go of his daughter’s other hand. Turning the big book around to face his daughter he opens to the page he had marked so many years ago. “I read this book and found that it belonged to our original pack.
