“Ivan, why don't —" Ivan didn't look at him again. He looked at me, kneeling there between them, and his face was the face he wore a different face that I couldn't figure out. The nothing face. Perhaps this was the kennel dog face they gave him. The one I thought I had cured. "Ivan?" My voice finally shook. Really shook because of what I felt from the inside. He reached out. For a second I thought, oh, Goddess, I thought he was going to cup my face like he always does. His big hand, still bloody at the knuckles, still shaking.

Gashface spat helplessly, the only thing he could do just then. "I really like that face!" Jada smirked. "But don't get upset so soon. You'll be crying even harder when you have to pay up!" Gashface was left inconsolable—what had he done to deserve running into people like them? Still, it was all too late now. And with the issue settled, the proprietors asked Frank to stay for dinner. Unable to turn them down, Frank went with them to a nearby hotel. After they ordered food, a middle-aged man with a missing pinky came up and asked, "Sir, would you mind my asking… Who are you, really?"

AZALEA’S POV The intruder’s blood-red eyes locked onto me like I was already dead. The air turned freezing cold in a heartbeat. Edwin moved faster than I could process. He shoved me behind his body, one arm stretched out like a shield. “Don’t move.” Sorin was already on his feet, fangs bared, looking ready to tear the guy apart. “King’s lapdog. You picked the wrong house.” The stranger laughed, low and mocking. “The hybrid stinks of wolf blood. Dracula sends his regards, Guardian. Hand the girl over and I’ll make your death quick.”

I take down a lump of saliva with my eyes still pinned permanently towards where the sound came the first time. “That’s because you are looking in the wrong place” a voice echoes behind me and a grasp on my shoulders which quickly makes me turn. I still can’t see him as I am facing my face. “Here I am” I hear another voice from my front, but this time around. It doesn’t come with yanking. I feast my eyes on the heart eater. He has a smile embedded on his face while I have the opposite of it. Seeing his face alone reminds me of how he stuck his hand inside of Ivy without remorse. The smile on his face withers away realizing that I was there and also saw what happened.

She turned her face away to hide the look on her face that was probably red from Edward's compliment. While Edward just smiled faintly, then returned with a flat face. Then he stood up and said, "Come on, I'll take you home," he said holding out his hand in front of Evelyn. Evelyn hesitantly accepted Edward's outstretched hand, she kept her face averted in embarrassment. But a few moments later, he thought back to the strange man earlier. "Edward, may I ask a question?" asked Evelyn. "What?" "Who was that weirdo earlier? Why does he look like a... Vampire?" Evelyn asked to the point.

James warned in a low voice and Ivan clutched the side of his tsce where he was punched in as he stared into James face, totally not seeing that particular punch coming. “Now, what did you inject her with?” James started to asked after a moment and I observed as Ivan’s face twisted in pain as his hand pressed into the side of his face, and he hesitated for a moment, glaring angrily at James– a gesture which earned him another sharp punch in the other side of how face from James, and Ivan couldn’t for the life of him, stifle the cry that slipped out of his mouth the moment after James knuckles connected with the other side of his cheeks.

After having salvaged whatever blood he could, the young man seemed to have satisfied his hunger a bit. He got up on his feet again and blinked. Slowly, his head moved up and he looked around. Ivan stood in front of him, smiling while I and Jasper were a few feet away. “Welcome to the world again, newborn” The young man looked at him and blinked again before his hand went up to his mouth. Two small fangs slunk out of his mouth and he let out a small wail before his fingers touched them. He looked confused and shocked as he lowered his head, mumbling something to himself.

Dicken patted my hand with his leather-gloved hand then, and it soon slithered down to my nose and then my lips as he spoke raspily, “Do you still fear me now?” Nonetheless, I said nothing and simply grabbed his mask, firmly tearing off his face. It did not change despite his transfiguration: pale, handsome, and with pronounced facial bones. However, the upper tip of his ears resembled plant shoots slowly growing out of the ground, and while such an appearance could be a little frightening to other humans, I found it absolutely adorable, even funny.

Whoever it was, his voice went in and out like my ability to focus, his tone quite normal. "... witch and she shall be..." What? Who knew I was a witch? Was this some kind of coven joke? I must have grunted aloud because I felt fingers on my face, the brush of cloth on my cheek and I could see again. At least partially. My eyes registered three people, all in black. A van, definitely. A face entered my line of sight, cherub cheeks and clear blue eyes familiar. A fading bruise graced one side, taking up almost half of his face, coupled with a healing split lip. But his faint smile was so sweet I found myself smiling too.

Then he replied, “That woman volunteered to be sucked on, he doesn't have a choice, who wouldn’t want a free meal, right?” I slapped his face, and his fangs showed up, “I’m sorry….” he lowered his gaze and called Ivan, “Ivan!” Ivan showed up with a smile on his lips, he wiped his lips with fresh blood and he winked at me, “Sorry about that, Catalina….I’m just…hungry.”
