The static cracked softly through the speakers for a few seconds before music finally pushed through some old Portuguese song playing low and uneven normal,human ,and messy and weirdly that helped a little tle.
Sofia shifted slightly at the sound but stayed asleep.
Tomás exhaled slowly.
“They want us isolated,” he said suddenly.
I frowned.
“What?”
“The system. Whatever it is.”
I looked at him carefully.
“Because isolation creates predictable behavior.”
That made my stomach tighten.
“The house.”
