“William, I feel a little dizzy.” William immediately lifted her into his arms and left. I watched silently. This time, I didn’t feel sadness or pain. I followed Mike back to the hospital. His phone suddenly rang on the desk. That was my phone. Since my family couldn’t be contacted, Mike had been holding onto it. I leaned in and saw that the message was from William. “Jennifer and I are getting married at the end of the month. You like money, don’t you? As long as you come, I’ll give you a million.”

Food, clothes, secrets—we had shared everything. Aside from Luke, she was the second person I was closest to. During our freshman year, I introduced Luke to her.
