It's A Wonderful Life Novels & Stories

My parents used lottery tickets to decide our allowances because they wanted to train and educate my younger sister, Elena Carter, and me. Every week before we returned to school, we would be given five lottery tickets. Whatever amount we scratched would be our weekly allowance. Elena was always lucky. She would always win at least a hundred dollars, and she would spend the money on good meals, dresses, and even buying her roommates coffee. The most I had won was 15 dollars, and most of the day, all I got was a few dollars. At the height of my bad luck, all five lottery tickets would end up being losing tickets. I had to rely on the two dollars I managed to save last week. When I asked

Full of life. That's the real story. Not death. Not tragedy. Not impossible soul transference. Just life. Beautiful, messy, ordinary, extraordinary life. Finally. Completely. Forever. New beginning. Every day. Every moment. Every choice. New beginning. Always.

He fed me lunch, he bathed me, I got him to watch a movie with me. “I want to live in a very small but comfortable cottage with you. It'd be like living a dream, Daddy.” One of the things I said to him during the movie that made him smile at me... “Then after business school, I want to travel the world just like Adelaide” a character in the movie who lived a true peaceful life. Depicted as the happiest woman in a world where her friend had opposite luck. She traveled the world with her family, saw people, and lived with her husband and son in an island house that was next to the sea.

Grandma Mabel cries too. It’s chaos, love, noise, and family. No warning. Just life. And some how, despite everything. It’s perfect.

But in the end, I still struggled to get up and grab my phone. Shockingly enough, it was a WhatsApp message from Kyrie. I narrowed my eyes while trying to adapt to the sudden light bursting from my phone screen. Kyrie, whose profile picture was a pink water lily, had actually texted me. "Thank you for driving me home tonight, Mr. Skyworth." I perked up slightly. "You're welcome," I texted back. Soon, she responded, "It's getting late. You should rest soon, sir. Good night."

"Lucky for me, I was born with a silver spoon, unlike some people, born to parents who abandoned them." I couldn't help but think back to when Freddie had sat next to me on my bed in my past life, sipping from the bowl of nourishing soup that was supposed to help me recover. He had sneered, "Tyler, you're going to die anyway. Drinking all that soup won't change a thing. I'll just enjoy it for you; no need to thank me." I wanted to rip him apart right then and there—just the thought of him made my skin crawl.

However, his joy turned to dismay at the school carnival when his father forgot to tell the babysitter to bake cookies, and he ended up with generic cookies instead of the homemade bear-shaped ones his mother used to bake. Surrounded by classmates who craved his mother's famous treats, Calvin had a sudden epiphany: maybe his mother was not so bad after all. Then there was Chester Harris who despised the scheming woman who had taken his mother's place. However, during a thunderstorm, as he pressed against the door, the absence of his mother's soothing hum from the other side sent him into a tailspin. Mandy York came next, her blood pressure spiking again, then needing meds to keep it in check

Death wipes a tear off my face, and then settles back down, his eyes going to me, and then back to the ground in front of him. "Is that how you comfort people?" I ask him. "I've been not alive for so long, but the living and human customs are still in me...somewhere." he responds wistfully, his gaze to the ceiling. I don't say anything for a bit, standing up, and holding out my hand to him. "Thank you. But I must wake up now, and see what I can do to help in this situation. Mason only gave me so much time to track and find that disaster of a woman Isadora." I say, hissing her name harshly.
