DEVONNE’S POV “Did you guys crash into someone?” I asked Josh. “Uhm yeah, it’s one of my classmates” he croaked and I had to get him some water. Helping him up a bit so he can gulp it down. The boy came over and peered into Josh’s face “you don’t even look hurt” he said then turned to me “Hello, I’m Norman, since he’s awake now, shouldn’t you call the doctor?” I just stared.

I looked up at Jace, heart pounding hard. “It was just a friend from Uni” I muttered, trying to act normal but I was panicking inside. “I’m late for class Jace. I was gonna go.” Jace didn’t move. He just stood by the elevator, big and blocking the exit. His face went cold and his eyes narrowed as he stepped closer. “You’re not leaving today, Kale” Jace said low and calm, like it wasn’t even a question. “We need to go over the rules for your new life with me.”

I get upset over just a few words, or even over the thought of losing him. I think it’s a good idea to try to get my mind off of all of that for now. I get dressed in a plain tshirt and jeans, and open my bedroom door. I swing it open and immediately run into a rock hard wall. I look up to see a werewolf there who I haven’t met yet. He’s a young African American gentleman, with a wide and muscular build. “Good morning, Luna" he greets. “I’ve been assigned to your guard detail for the day. The name’s Jace.”

"I am on the rooftop of Topaz Tower, which is just opposite of you. If you don't mind, come and have a drink with me. We can go through this hardship together, just like we used to. With that, Jace hung up before Trevor could even say anything. Trevor's eyes turned cold when he heard the beeping sound. After a moment, he glanced at Arctic Snow Group and then walked toward Topaz Tower. About ten minutes later, Trevor pushed the door open and walked into Jace's presidential suite on the top floor. There was no way that Jace Storme was staring at me. Jace Storme was the hottest guy in the world and possibly the entire universe. He had a slender athletic body, sparkly turquoise eyes as bright as the sun, shortly cropped brown hair that he enjoyed to spike and a smile that could light up even the darkest of nights. He was the captain of the soccer team, football team, dance team, and he was the lead in the school's musical. He was the most popular junior at Macintyre High, easy. He would never be caught dead talking to me, much less gazing at me. It was probably just the stupid glasses not working for me.

A loud, thudding sound, followed by a deeper voice. “Liv, do you always have to flirt with the new girls?” he asked, walking in like he owned the entire dorm. I turned. Jesus. Tall. Tattooed. Hair a mess in the way only a bad boy can pull off. Shirtless, of course. Sculpted abs, like a walking wet dream. The scent hit me first—pine and leather and something dark that made my wolf whimper in confusion. "Well, well," Jace's voice was low and mocking. "The orphan finally gets what she deserves." I spun around, shock and pain warring in my chest. "What?" He stood there in his black funeral suit, hands in his pockets, that cruel smile playing at his lips. But something was different about his eyes—they looked almost... hungry. "You heard me," he said, stepping closer. "Maybe now you'll finally learn your place. No daddy to protect you anymore. No family to hide behind."

Nora said firmly. “Right.” Asher said looking down at his hand, his claws still out as everything slowly came back to him. Zeke nodded and rushed out the door. Asher followed quickly behind him. Nora locked eyes with Jace dread pitting in her stomach. “I need to go contact the other packs and up security.” Jace said, looking from Nora to Mallory. “It will be ok.” Jace said quietly, he walked over to her and placed a quick kiss on the top of her head like he would do when she was a child before walking out the door.
