It was the day that Jack had been dreading. His birthday. He was 18 today. He had to leave the only home he had ever known, Old George Orphanage. Once an orphan had reached the age of 18, they were no longer able to stay. It was time to spread their wings and see what the world had to offer. However, Jack wasn't the only orphan being thrown out in the world today. His best friend, Jill, would be right there beside him. Today was also her birthday. 18 years old today. They'd been at Old George for as long as either could remember. Neither Jack nor Jill knew much of their past. Hell, they didn't know who they were or where they'd actually come from. Thane shifted back to his more human form, still holding me around my waist, but lowering me until I could stand on a rock just below the surface of the water. Beta Xavier stepped forward, placing a hand on Jaiden's shoulder, looking concerned, "Jaiden?" he said quietly, but stepped back as Jaiden turned and snapped his jaw at him, as though he were still a wolf, and I wondered if his wolf was actually in control right now. It was an unsettling thought.

But it’s probably the wind which is causing his eyes to water. “W-what’s your name?” “Eren!” Eren says cheerfully and does a happy dance. The eyes of the man strangely widen a little. He begins to smile happily, indent dimples popping out. I look at him in awe, his smile and his dimples make me remember that of Eren's.

I shouted, hoping someone would hear. “And you are?” a woman’s authoritative voice called down from above. “I’m—” I hesitated, my thoughts racing. “Yes! I didn’t quite get that! You’ll have to speak up!” “I’m Jade . . . Jade Ishola!” I finally said, thinking, 'What’s the point of lying now?' “Welcome to the Family, Jade,” the woman said. Seven columns of bamboos raised, creating a passage through the wall. “He was meant to leave you alone in the forest. We can’t afford to have anyone weak among us again.”

Aimee giggled and showed the student the design she wanted, then winked at Jayden as the student mixed the colors and started painting her face. Jayden watched, holding onto the bags of food they had bought. The students tried to coax him into sitting down and getting a painting too, but he neither moved nor spoke. Aimee’s painting was that of a peacock prancing, with her nose as the peacock’s body and the feathers spread across her forehead and temple. When she was done, she looked at Jayden and grinned, her face a myriad of colors but beautiful. “Won’t you get one? Even a small one on one cheek?” she asked, her voice soft with no pressure.

He changes his girlfriend almost every week. Aiden Kendall: Has black hair and blue eyes. The funniest among them. He cheers the remaining 2 up when they aren't happy and he is always happy. Anthony Armstrong: Has golden and blue eyes. The most arrogant among them. He is only nice to his friends and his younger sister.

Sebestian and Allen were the same, and after greeting everyone and catching up they sat down to have lunch. After lunch it was time to open their gifts. Jai had tons of them. His parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles had all gotten the kid everything he wanted. Adom and Ash got Jai a book he saw and loved, and Jai a new pair of light-up sneakers, enchanted by Ash to shine with all the colours of the spectrum and never run out of batteries. His grandparents, aunts and uncles got Jai more books and a fake pirate sword and ship, and an mp3 player full of his favourite lullabies. Both also got a bunch of new toys.

“Are you okay?” I exhale slowly, like I’ve been holding my breath for hours. “I’m fine. Just… tired.” Then my voice softens. “But I need a favor. Before I say it, can you turn the camera to Zaiden?” “Of course.” The screen shifts, and my world tilts. There he is. My baby bear. Zaiden is happily rocking in his little chair, chubby legs kicking, giggling at the cartoon playing in front of him like it’s the best thing he’s ever seen. Drool shines at the corner of his mouth, his tiny fists clenched in excitement. Completely safe and loved.
