Jake Sully Novels & Stories

“I can’t sit here and do nothing. Physically I feel fine. The only way I am going to stop worrying about Luka is if I do something productive.” Jake didn’t say anything for a long time, but then he took a deep breath. “Okay, I will open the hatch for you, but just so you know, you won’t be able to access it without a pack member. Take the tun…” Jake’s voice became strangled as he cut himself off.

Evelyn's POV "I, Alpha Kyle Turner, reject you, Evelyn Sanders, as my mate." Alpha Kyle hoarse voice boomed in my ears making me freeze on my tracks, his voice laced with disgust. Crack! A cracking sound resounded inside my body and I felt as if a part of me was forcefully torn and taken away. My wolf howled in pain but there was nothing I could do about it. Tears flowed down my face as the pain became immeasurable, increasing with each second to the point I was unable to tolerate it. I could care less about the gazes on me. I was already used to it.

Naomi smiles sweetly and takes her phone before departing. I stand beside the window and watch as she drives away in her red Chevy. Before not long, Jake enters my room with three duffle bags. I'm glued to my spot at the window, having a hard time believing that someone played me so well. I hear the click of the camera and twist my head to see Jake taking a picture of me while grinning like an idiot. Jake holds his phone like a mic. “Ladies and gentlemen, this is the gloomy face of the legend Denzel Flynn, the first time when someone fooled him.”

“Tell me. We share secrets. I’ve told you mine already.” “That you really like bad daddies.” She bit her lip, “A-huh. You know me,” and giggled sultrily. I sighed, shaking my head. “It’s not like that. Jake is... complicated. There’s a whole other side to him that I’m trying to understand. It’s not just about the physical stuff.” Sasha leaned in, her eyes sparkling with curiosity, “So, what is it? Tell me everything. Is he in some secret society? Does he have a dungeon or something? Come on, spill!”

I stepped back quickly, almost tripping over my shoes. “Careful.” Jake grabbed my hand, “I wouldn’t want you to get hurt right after I just got you back now.” “Got me back?” I raised my eyebrow defensively. “Well, it feels like a lifetime I haven’t seen you.” Jake smiled. “Yeah…” I pulled my hand away, “I’ll see you around.” “Jamie,” Jake continued, “You know I’m Samuels right hand right? I’m the strongest soldier in this compound.” “That’s great.” I turned to leave, really hoping he would stop but of course, he continued.

“And your team’s best theory is that she… *what*? Sprouted wings and flew to Narnia?” “Sir, we’ve traced Mr. Hartley’s jet to Maine,” the investigator replied tersely. “But the trail goes cold after that. He’s covering his tracks well.” *Jake.* Leon’s jaw twitched. His former business partner—his *friend*—had stabbed him in the back. *For her.* The realization burned worse than the whiskey.

I wasn’t here to play catch-up or entertain fake pleasantries. Aaron chuckled, leaning back. “Still too good for us, huh? No wonder why Sylas left you.” “Cut it out, Aaron.” A voice called out atching my attention before I could respond. My eyes turned to Jake as he walked over to us soothing his tie. He was dressed in a black suit and tie looking just as handsome as ever. Taking a seat beside me, Jake reached out grabbing a glass of champagne and drowning it. “Perched?” I asked smiling as I watched him set his glass down.

“I know you know who she is.” Blake sighs, before leaning back in his chair and reaching for a glass of wine on the round table beside him. “Very well. Let’s be direct with one another, if you don’t want to play.” “Where’s James?” asks Ethan. “There was a disturbance near the border. He went to sort it.” Blake sips his wine. “You intend to trade her for the Heart of the Moon, I suppose?” “Aye.” “If the Wolves find out who she really is, they’ll tear her apart.”

“You’re good at this.” “Teaching?” “Yeah. You make it... easy to try.” She glanced at me, then down at her boots. “Thanks. That’s nice to hear.” There was something soft in her expression now. Not flirtation exactly. Something quieter. Warmer. I had the sudden, overwhelming urge to tell her the truth. That I wasn’t just Jake Ryan, the guy from the ski lodge with two left skis and a borrowed identity. I was Jackson Ryland. The face on too many magazine covers. The CEO hiding from the fallout of a very public scandal. The billionaire who hadn’t been called by his real name in days.

"It's the only life I have." I kept Alex home the day of the field trip. Told the school he was sick. He was disappointed but accepted it. But I couldn't shake the feeling. The certainty. Jake was coming. I didn't know when. I didn't know how. But fate was circling. Getting closer. Then, two weeks before Christmas, I saw the announcement. Jake Sullivan joining Pinnacle Sports Management. Relocating to Portugal. Starting January. The article had his photo. Still handsome. But older. Tired. Those blue eyes that used to sparkle now looked empty.
