“James!?” James Cotton was Jamie’s father. He and his wife has been our closest friends for years. So, it was natural that our kids would bond when we’d go on summer vacations together. To see him was both a shock and massive amount of relief. Help was finally here. I let out a breath of relief, “James! I am so happy to see you!” He smiled at me and walked towards me. Laughing he nodded, “So am I.” “We need to get out of here quick James! They kidnapped me and we need to leave before they realize you’re here,” I urged, wanting him to move quicker.

Liam sneered and retorted, "What do you think?" Titus panicked, so he immediately looked toward James. "Mr. Dixon, who is he?" James snorted and laughed sarcastically, saying, "He's Mr. Liam Kelsey from Siaross, the figure who is famous all over East Cross."

Reid picked up his car keys, turning them once in his hand before answering in a calm, low voice: “A kid.” James’s jaw dropped. “A… kid?” Reid gave a single nod. James blinked twice, as if trying to process the most improbable sentence he’d ever heard. “I.. forgive me sir,” he said carefully, “but who exactly is this child? A relative? A charity figure? Someone from the board? One of the beneficiaries from yesterday’s visit?” Reid shook his head. “No. Just a boy I met there.” James stared blankly. “Met… casually?”

Harper James was different, he smiled more, and he was like a love-struck idiot. I have never seen him act this way with a girl before, especially one who is as mysterious as K is. James already warned me to stop being nosy, but I couldn’t help myself. There was something familiar about her from James’ drawings from years back. I was going to find out and all I needed to do was go through some of James’ old drawings to be sure.

"Keep the change." The man beams, thanking them over and over before pulling away. "My back's killing me," Kidd mutters, stretching again. "Why don't we just pave this road? Then we can bring our cars next time." Ace and Kieran stare at him. "Did you hit your head on the way over? Since when are you thinking about infrastructure?" "Whatever." Kidd waves them off and walks to the front door, which is closed tight. The three of them hesitate-each waiting for someone else to knock first. Kidd finally lifts his hand to tap on the wood-then freezes.

"I swear I'll pay you back, Kane. Just—just help me out this time." The request lingered between them. Kane was a lot of things, but he wasn't heartless. He knew what this world did to people. Finally, he sighed. "I'll send you some money. Drop your details don't bother paying back ." Relief flooded Spade's features. "Fuck, man. Thank you. I won't forget this." Kane clapped a hand on his back. "Work smart, kid. Don't let this place swallow you up."

Robyn said, touching her mother’s face. Liam shook his head. “No, I want a superhero themed party, Mommy. I don't like unicorns like Robbie,” he whined. The children kept talking to their mother, clearly not having noticed the other presence in the room. “Uh...” James began, staring at the two children. One with onyx dark eyes, the other dark brown eyes. Matching eyes. Eyes he knew. He couldn’t even form a word. He was too stunned. Sarah quickly stood. “Kids,this is Mr. James. He’s a friend.”
