Chapter 3 A silver envelope sat on the dark wood of Ryan Carter’s kitchen island. It looked harmless, but it had the power to stop the highest-scoring forward in the National Hockey League in his tracks. Ryan stared down at the elegant silver script across the front. He knew that handwriting instantly, and he certainly knew the name printed right above the return address: Matt "The Monster" Garrity.

Oh my God. It dawned on me at that moment… Lucas already lost the captain's title… There's no way Coach is letting Kianeffing Maddox go. “Everyone gather around.” The coach's voice came as he hugged Scott, “That's my boy. I am really proud of you.” “And to everyone on the team. We have our new MVP and captain of the team. Kian Maddox.” The coach announced. The rink erupted with cheers and whistles. Lucas threw his helmet on the floor, getting everyone's attention.

Dax asks. “Yeah, this didn’t happen on pack lands, this is human land. And a human victim. Their hands released, but Asher didn’t break eye contact immediately. Suspicion rolled off him in waves.
