He stood up and walked toward the wall. “Humans have always been afraid of change,” he said, sounding like he was giving a speech. “They fight it, they make laws against it, but they keep starting it anyway. The virus is just the system cleaning out old code. And I am the one who compiles it.”

I looked over at Blake as he pulled his sweatpants up, his back decorated with new marks and some of them cut deep enough that they were starting to bleed, "I really think I should trim my nails." DEA I was putting together my presentation for the seminar for more than half the day, distracting myself from my real problems. When I opened the email last night, I was excited but it was short-lived when I read the names of the other scientists that were going to be there as well. " Do I have to go into details about who you are or do you want me to tell you everything about you?" Hawkins replied. James relaxed back into his chair. He brought out a cigar and lit it. " I am not singing that piece of shit. You don't scare me, Hawkins. You bleed like every other man when shot at or when cut." Hawkins laughed. A snap of his hands and a lady brought out a file, walking towards them once again.

“We need him to admit to everything.” Tammy swallowed hard, nodded, and took a deep breath. Tammy entered Joseph’s study while the rest of us stayed behind, crowded around the small device that allowed us to hear every word. The tension in the room was palpable as we waited. “Father,” Tammy’s voice rang out, soft but resolute. “What is it?” Joseph’s gruff voice responded. There was a pause, and I imagined Tammy must be gathering her courage. “I can’t do this anymore,” she finally said. Her voice trembled slightly, but there was a determination beneath it. “I don’t want to be part of this plan to kill Jake. I don’t want to be your pawn.”
