Amelia woke up with a start. Her heart was pounding heavily against her ribcage, and her breathing was hitched. The bedsheet underneath her was soaked in sweat and so were her nighties. She was having a nightmare which she couldn't even remember, but she knew it was terrible.

My heart races as I take in my surroundings, trying to ground myself in reality. I take a deep breath, covering my face with my hands, trying to steady my racing thoughts.
