My ear was pressed against his heart and I could hear it beating erratically, like he was running several miles in a minute. I didn’t know what to make of that, so I just stayed put until I drifted off to sleep.

My head was pressed against alphas chest, sleeping peacefully when we suddenly heard the loud bang. We both flinched awake and stared at the door in shock. "What's that?" I asked him, trying to catch my breath. My heart was racing so fast from how loud and unexpected it was and how it disrupted my sleep. Alpha shrugged at me. "I have no idea. It's not my fault." He got out of bed. "Wait. Be careful. I'll come with you."

I let out an ear-splitting scream. **** I wake up suddenly and sit on my bed. I'm gasping for breath and my pyjamas are drenched in sweat. My heart is throbbing fast against my chest and I'm still shaking. "I've been calling you for the past 5 hours!" Pepper jokes. I force a laugh rolling my eyes. Thank God it was just a nightmare. My heartbeat is slower now, its normal pulse rate and trembling are fading. I fall back on the bed and bury my head in my pink pillow.

Jessica That night I struggle to sleep in my bed and the nightmare came just like they always do. Since my first nightmare I've never bothered to sleep in my pajamas, and that was how that night I went to bed in my working attire thinking it was too dark to change. The same old excuse. I was quick to hide under my blanket just like my usual coward self and then woke up with a panic attack. My heart was beating so fast and the deafening silence was suffocating me to the point that I was breathing heavily.

God, don’t do this to me! I didn’t even think about the fact that she wasn’t fully dressed—I scooped her up from the tub. At that moment, she nuzzled against me like a tiny kitten and mumbled softly, “Julian… you jerk.” Relief hit me like a tidal wave. So she’d just fallen asleep. “Don’t scare me like that,” I muttered, my heart still racing. I quickly carried her into the bedroom. I figured once I confirmed she was just asleep and not passed out, my heart rate would calm down. Nope. Because my heart rate shot up along with my dick.

JESSICA'S POV~ As I slept, a strange sensation crept over me, unlike anything I had felt in a long time. A terrifying discomfort coursed through my body, and I struggled to open my eyes, but they remained sealed shut. No matter how much I willed my body to awaken, I could only toss and turn helplessly in bed, lost in the throes of this strange, unsettling feeling. Fear gripped me as I began to wonder if I was dying. My heart raced, and the sense of dread grew stronger with each passing moment. Lying there, feeling utterly helpless and terrified, I desperately tried to break free from the clutches of this nightmare.

The next morning, Jia's phone vibrated constantly on the nightstand, a sharp, irritating buzz that pulled her from her sleep. She groaned, tossing and turning, trying to block out the noise. But it persisted, nagging at her until she finally turned onto her side, peeping at the screen. She didn't want to get up but the vibrations wouldn't stop. Suddenly, the door to her room crashed open and Jia's eyes snapped wide open. Her heart skipped a beat as she shot upright in bed, instinctively pulling the blanket tighter around her.

Soon, he fell asleep; sleep was something every person had to obey, and the young man was exhausted. The large clock in the hall struck 11pm and all the while it had sounded so loud, old and dusty, it never seemed to disturb anyone whenever it spoke out with its loud voice. Joe had slept soundly these past nights despite the old clock's chime. Strangely, this time around, the doctor's eyes sprung open at the sound of the round clock.
