They found the loose stone exactly where the healer had described, and when Gianna pressed against it, the panel swung open just as promised, revealing a small hidden compartment carved into the wall. Inside sat the jar. Dark glass, sealed with wax, the symbol of an eye etched carefully into its surface, exactly as Iris had described it so many days ago. Relief crashed over Gianna so powerfully that her knees nearly buckled, tears springing to her eyes as she lifted the jar carefully from its hiding place, cradling it against her chest as though it were the most precious thing in the entire world. “We have it,” she whispered, disbelief coloring her voice. “Elmund, we finally have it.”
